Pyramid Solitaire is a strategic twist on classic solitaire that challenges logic and planning skills. Match cards to a total of 13 and clear the pyramid to win.

What is Pyramid Solitaire?

It's a single-player card game belonging to the Solitaire family. The goal of the game is to eliminate all cards in the pyramid by matching pairs of cards that total 13.

  • Ace (A) = 1
  • J = 11
  • Q = 12
  • K = 13 (can be removed individually)

The game starts with 28 cards arranged in a 7-tiered pyramid, with the remaining cards in the draw pile (stock).

Understanding the rules

Matching cards to reach a total of 13

You can match any two cards as long as their total equals 13 (e.g., 8 + 5, 10 + 3…).

Choose only the face-up cards

Only cards not covered by other cards are allowed to be combined. This creates a crucial tactical element.

Using the draw pile (Stock)

When there are no moves, you can draw cards from the stock.

The top card of the waste pile can also be used to combine.

The King is a special card.

Because K = 13, you can discard it immediately without needing to combine it.

An Advanced Version of Solitaire

If you find Klondike Solitaire too simple for you, this game is a wise choice. Not because the rules are more complex, but because it requires higher strategic thinking.

While traditional Solitaire (like Klondike) focuses on suit and order, Pyramid Solitaire forces players to calculate the total points (13) and consider each move to reveal the hidden cards.

Miscalculations can get you stuck very early. Additionally, the elements of probability and deck management make this game more challenging, suitable for players who want a more in-depth experience.
